City of Thieves

I was going to be on a train for a few hours on Monday morning. The library book I brought was not to my tastes (Wilbur Smith's The Quest = mystic tat) so I treated myself with a visit to the bookshop.

I was browsing the shelves for a few minutes when I noticed the book I was waiting for; David Benioff and his City of Thieves.

On amazon, it wasn't available untill Thursday. I assumed this was the UK release date, but evidently I'm wrong. (Perhaps Waterstones were selling it too early, and I just managed to get the bugger bought before the mistake was recognized. Yes, I think I'll go with that; it sounds more exciting and doesn't involve me being wrong.)

I've tried a stab at a review. If anybodys interested, they can find it here.

(My SEO guru preaches that google finds duplicate content displeasing. That's why I'm not posting it here. The link is to a historical fiction forum.)

Nice post. I'm not sure whether the book would be my cup of tea, but the review was enjoyable reading anyway!

As for getting the book early, same thing happened to me with an album I'd been eagerly awaiting for a few months. Chanced upon it a few days early in my local record store and had to exploit the opportunity. Felt enormously cool and in-the-loop afterwards.
