1. The possibility of winning 50 Entrecard credits is nothing. Even worse that it is only given out every month.
2. Although a nice surprise to some loyal regulars the first month, this month it would be mostly won by chain droppers who simply add me to their daily drop list.
3. I don't update this site every day (yet).
Doesn't seem right that someone who subscribes to my feed and reads my blog and drops their card when there is something new doesn't stand a chance to win a prize.
So I've come up with a new plan. It involves giving away a lot more credits but I think it will be worth the investement.
Every day, I'll select two blogs at random who dropped their cards on me in the preceeding 24 hours. They will each win 100 Entrecard credits.
I like this much better beacuse...
1. There will be lots more winners.
2. It's as fair as I can make it.
3. It's really simple. So simple in fact, that most winners won't know it's a contest until they win one day.
Sure it costs me a lot of credits, but I'd otherwise only spend them on adverts. You never know, a bit of positive PR this might generate could prove as useful as an ad would anyway.

I've been thinking of doing something with Entrecard giveaways as well. This new system you've decided on seems like a pretty fair and reasonable idea. I am considering using something similar to it myself
Sounds good, gives everyone a good chance of winning. Like it. Also liking the new layout.
Instead of giving them away to your top droppers you could give them to your top commentators, then your loyal readership will get them rather than people that've added you to a drop list.

Jessica, glad you like the new layout. I just needed a more vivid distinction between the main content and the sidebar.
Hopefully, it won't be long before I move over to my own hosting, I learn how to use wordpress, and it'll be all change again.
This brings me onto nicola's comment. Thanks for your idea, but the problem I have with that is that maybe not all my top commenters will be entrecard users.
Not to worry, I have something in the pipeline to reward regulars that is even better.
Looks like you are working to make strong improvements to your blog! I applaud your efforts! I'm looking forward to moving over to a hosted WordPress environment someday as well. Here's to the future!
